Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani is one of the most respected and famous businessman from Zambia. He is the owner and leader of top Zambian companies including Mahtani Group of Companies, Finsbury Investments, Finance Bank Zambia and many more. Recently, Dr. Rajan Mahtani was conferred with the prestigious Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ award. This is an internationally recognised award which is given to top leaders and businessmen with significant contributions for empowerment and development of the African continent. The award holds significant value as awardees are selected from entire African continent.
Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani was bestowed with the ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year’ award 2021 for his significant influence towards redefining the banking industry of Zambia. Dr. Rajan Mahtani’s top company is Mahtani Group which was established in 1981. In a short span of time, the company expanded its market from Zambia to South Africa, Malawi as well as international locations including United Kingdom. The company further expanded its operations to diverse sectors such as insurance and financial services, real estate, energy, agriculture and mining. Dr. Mahtani’s business contributions has not only improved these sectors, but also provided employment and livelihood opportunities for the locals.
On the other hand, the philanthropic and charitable contributions from Dr. Rajan Mahtani are lesser known due to lack of promotions from his side. He is the founder & owner of Prison Fellowship Zambia, a notable program which focusses on welfare of the inmates, ex-inmates their families as well as advocated fair and transparent criminal justice process. He also contributed to education sector of Zambia by establishing Stephen Malama award, which gives scholarships to top law graduates along with financial assistance.
