For the past four decades, Dr. Rajan Mahtani has been working towards economic, social as well as philanthropic growth and development of Zambia and its people. For his sustained and long-term commitments towards Zambia and its people, Dr.Rajan Mahtani was conferred with one of the prestigious Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ awards. The award was presented to Dr.Rajan Mahtani in the year 2021 during the Forbes-FIN Philanthropy and Leadership roundtable conference. Notably, Dr.Rajan Mahtani was also invited in this conference as an honorary speaker and discussed the significance of leadership in healthcare. The roundtable conference as well as the Forbes awards ceremony were held online as a result of the ongoing covid-19 pandemic and the members participated or joined the event from their respective locations. For his significant contributions towards the Zambian economy and its people, Dr.Rajan Mahtani was conferred with Forbes ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year’ 2021. One of the major reasons Dr.Rajan Mahtani was conferred with the award was for his significant contributions toward redefining the banking sector of Zambia. At the same time, Dr. Mahtani was also recognized for his philanthropic contributions including Prison Fellowship Zambia.
During the wee months of 2022, the President of Zambia announced his plans to completely abolish the death penalty row. During this time, Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani and his philanthropic company Prison Fellowship Zambia came to the news again to officially support the decision from the Zambian President. Dr. Mahtani further stated that his company Prison Fellowship will provide full legal and regulatory support towards this decision.
