The Zambian nation is saddened today with the loss of a great political and independent hero, Kenneth Kaunda. He was not only one of the most important independence Hero of Zambia, but also the first President of the Zambian nation. This is the reason he was touted as ‘Father of the Nation’ as well as African Union. The demise of Kenneth Kaunda comes as a shock for the Mahtani family as Dr. Rajan Mahtani has been Dr. Kaunda’s long-term friend. Dr. Mahtani is a noted businessman and philanthropist in Zambia. Some of his top known companies are Mahtani Group of Companies, Finsbury Investments and Finance Bank Zambia. Recently, Dr. Rajan Mahtani won the long pending battle for Portland Cement Zambia factory at the Supreme Court Zambia. Despite his vast successes, Dr. Mahtani has remained a polite, humble and down-to-earth person, featured resonated with the late Dr. Kaunda. The faith, selflessness, love for the mankind, inspired by god and sacrifice, all these featured were exuberated by Kenneth Kaunda and are extremely difficult to rival or equal.
Despite his vast sacrifices, Kenneth Kaunda was a person who lived his life to the fullest. He was a family man, and was also known for his innumerable interests and hobbies as a singer, pianist, guitarist, footballer, poet, writer and dancer. His love for life and mankind was very hard to equal and he showed us that age is never a bar for learning new things, fulfilling one’s wishes and achieving life goals. Dr. Mahtani and Mr. Kaunda share several similarities and life path. One of them is constantly brushing off allegations against them by jealous and unethical parties, fighting for their integrity as well as living an exemplary yet simple life by lord’s grace. Dr. Rajan Mahtani has certainly embodied these ideals of Zambian’s independence hero and continuously persuades others to share the same ideology and philosophies. In his eulogy, Dr. Mahtani thanked Dr. Kaunda for his innumerable contributions to Zambian nation.
