After around two years of devastating experiences from the ongoing pandemic, social and economic life is slowly coming back to normal. While the coronavirus pandemic has not been eradicated, industries and sectors have started their production and services at almost full capacities. Similarly, industry events and conferences have started to take place. One of the top philanthropy and leadership events in Africa is the Forbes-FIN philanthropy and leadership roundtable conference. This event was recently completed with Africa, although it took place virtually with members participating from their respective locations. Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani, a noted businessman and philanthropist from Zambia, was invited to this event as an honorary speaker and discussed the significance of leadership in healthcare. The top of the discussion was all the more important considering the ongoing pandemic and the realized importance of higher investments within the healthcare sector as well as medical research.

Apart from Dr. Rajan Mahtani, critical members from different backgrounds and aspects of life participated in this event. Some of these members were international business communities, political leaders, spiritual leaders, religious leaders, entrepreneurs, visionaries, media partners as well as international investors. The Forbes-FIN philanthropy and leadership roundtable conference was followed by the Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ award ceremony. It is one of the most anticipated and regarded corporate and philanthropy awards in Africa. The awards are given to leading lights in the field of philanthropy. The awards hold high value and global recognition as they are presented by Forbes itself. Also, the process of selecting the recipients is extremely rigorous and transparent, comprising of months of the verification process and background checks followed by interviews and discussions with the recipients to understand their perception towards philanthropy as a means to achieve long-term empowerment of the Zambian nation.

For his several contributions towards the Zambian nation as well as Africa, Dr. Mahtani was conferred with the Forbes ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year’ award 2021.
